Western Cape cheese makers study in Burgundy

The Burgundy / Western Cape Cheese making Fellowship is now in its 6th year and the successful candidates for 2010 were announced at the Danisco Qualité Dinner in Stellenbosch on 22 April 2010 The Fellowship is an initiative of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, who has been funding and driving it since its inception.  The Western Cape is the most important cheese-making region in South Africa, and it is therefore an example of the Department of Agriculture “putting its money where its mouth is. Agri-Expo is the program manager of the Fellowship and its Manager: Dairy, Kobus Mulder accompanies the cheese makers on their study visit.

The four lucky cheese makers will be attending a three-week study visit comprising of lectures at the Centre de Formation pour Adults (CFPPA) in the town of Davayé, Burgundy and practical work in local cheeseries. They course runs from 20 September to 8 October 2010.
